University of Birjand Achieves Remarkable Rise in UI GreenMetric 2025 Global Ranking for Sustainable Universities 

Birjand, Iran — The University of Birjand has recorded a significant improvement in the prestigious UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2025, securing the 19th position nationally among 44 participating Iranian universities and 888th place globally out of 1,745 institutions from 105 countries.

The results of the 15th edition of the ranking were announced on December 5, 2025. This international evaluation measures universities’ performance in sustainability, environmental management, and green campus initiatives. The University of Birjand’s strong return after a period of absence highlights its strategic commitment to sustainable development and becoming a greener institution.

“This achievement reflects the university’s serious and purposeful move toward sustainable development,” university officials noted. The progress stems from coordinated efforts across multiple departments, with data and documentation from the past two years meticulously compiled by the University’s Scientometrics Center in collaboration with the Vice Presidencies for Administration and Finance, Education, Research and Technology, and Program, Budget, and Administrative Transformation.
