Head of the Central Laboratory
The Central Laboratory of University of Birjand was established under the supervision of the University’s Vice Presidency for Research and Technology, with the aim of creating a centralized, advanced, and efficient platform for providing research and laboratory services. The establishment of this center was a response to the growing need of universities and research institutions for the optimal use of specialized equipment, the enhancement of scientific research quality, and the strengthening of the research capabilities of faculty members, researchers, and students.
With the rapid expansion of higher education institutions across the country, numerous laboratory and research facilities were developed in different academic sectors. However, the scattered distribution of these resources, parallel purchasing of similar equipment, and limited utilization of instruments led to reduced efficiency and increased maintenance costs. In addition, the lack of an integrated management structure caused some equipment to become obsolete or unusable over time due to improper maintenance and non-specialized use. Therefore, the establishment of a well-organized and fully equipped central laboratory emerged as an effective solution for optimizing resources and delivering specialized scientific services.
Today, the Central Laboratory at University of Birjand serves as one of the university’s key research infrastructures. Equipped with advanced instruments, expert personnel, and scientific standards, the laboratory provides a wide range of research and analytical services to faculty members, students, researchers, and even industrial and external research organizations. In addition to facilitating access to specialized facilities, the center plays a significant role in promoting interdisciplinary research, improving the quality of scientific studies, and strengthening collaboration between the university and industry.
All services provided by the laboratory are carried out in accordance with the regulations and guidelines approved by the Central Laboratory Council, and service fees are transparently communicated to applicants. Through continuous development of its facilities, modernization of equipment, and delivery of professional services, the Central Laboratory of the University of Birjand strives to become one of the leading research and laboratory hubs in eastern Iran.
Main Objectives of the Central Laboratory
- Promoting a culture of sharing scientific, laboratory, software, and hardware resources and capabilities
- Enabling efficient planning and management of laboratory services
- Centralizing laboratory equipment to provide optimized research and technological services through trained and specialized experts
- Establishing an effective system for maintenance and repair management of laboratory equipment
- Preventing unnecessary duplication in equipment purchases while facilitating the acquisition of essential instruments
- Creating an institutional laboratory network centered around the Central Laboratory
- Facilitating the optimal utilization of existing laboratories and workshops across the university
- Enhancing service integration within the Iranian Scientific Laboratories Network (SHAA)
- Providing opportunities for active participation in provincial, national, and international research projects
- Facilitating the implementation of Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) systems and standards
