Faculty of Art at University of Birjand
The Faculty of Art was established in 2002 with 35 associate students in Archaeology and is the only higher-education center dedicated to art in eastern Iran. Its mission is to promote local cultural and artistic values and enhance the quality of art education and production at national and regional levels.
The faculty focuses on applied arts, offering undergraduate programs in Archaeology, Architecture, Urban Planning, Handicrafts, Carpet, and Islamic Art, and graduate programs in Carpet (Materials and Dyeing), Islamic Art (Historical Studies), and Archaeology (Prehistory, Historical Iran, and Islamic Civilization).
Over the past two decades, it has trained successful graduates, published over ten scholarly books, launched two national journals (Negarineh Islamic Art and Rajshomar), held six national conferences, secured national and international research support (SAIA, DAAD, etc.), signed international research contracts, and won notable awards in scientific and artistic festivals. With strong facilities, workshops, and laboratories, the faculty provides valuable opportunities for education and research in art.
