Faculty of Literature and ‌Humanities at University of Birjand

The Faculty of Literature and Humanities at University of Birjand began its activities in 1991 by admitting students in two disciplines, Persian Language and Literature and Educational Sciences (Curriculum Planning) with seven faculty members. Over time, with the addition of Library and Information Science, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and History, the faculty’s educational activities expanded. With the launch of graduate programs, including master’s degrees in Persian Literature and Educational Sciences, the faculty continued to develop its educational and research activities. Simultaneously, by recruiting faculty members in various disciplines, selecting and appointing scholarship holders, and granting study missions to instructors at the lecturer rank, significant efforts were made to strengthen and enhance the academic capacity of the faculty.

During the 2000s, additional disciplines within the humanities were established at the undergraduate level, including Geography (with specializations in Rural Planning and Urban Planning), Law, Political Science, Philosophy and Islamic Theology, Psychology, Educational Management, English Translation, and English Literature. At the master’s level, the faculty admitted students in Information and Knowledge Science, Geography (Rural Planning), Physical Education and Sports Sciences, History (Islamic Iran), English Translation, Educational Psychology, General Linguistics, Arabic Language and Literature, and Philosophy and Islamic Theology. In 2011, a doctoral program in Persian Literature was launched. With the expansion of academic programs and the establishment of new faculties in 2007, the disciplines of Educational Sciences and Psychology, Physical Education and Sports Sciences, and Information and Knowledge Science were separated from the Faculty of Literature and Humanities.

At present, the Faculty of Literature and Humanities is active and admits students in the following programs:
